The SAA publishes and distributes to its members a comprehensive set of flight training and safety manuals.
Whether you wish to fly purely for recreation or for competitive sport you will certainly benefit from proper training, particularly if
learning to fly radio control. Through its Safety Code and Achievement Scheme and its network of local clubs the
SAA enables first class tuition, providing safe and controlled hands-on experience.
All students are encouraged to achieve an SAA Bronze safety achievement certificate which deems a pilot competent in taking off, flying controlled circuits and landing safely. With practice and experience Silver and Gold awards can be pursued.
The Flight Training, Safety Code and Achievement Scheme manuals have been extensively reviewed over the past year and new versions of the printed manuals were issued to every SAA member early in 2002. The revised Achievement Scheme will take effect in late 2002 once all the examiners have received the required training.
