The Scottish Aeromodellers
Association is run completely by volunteers which includes
the central co-ordinating Council, the instructors,
examiners, and club officials.
The S.A.A. has seventy local area model clubs throughout
Scotland with around 2000 members nation-wide so whether you
are new to aeromodelling or a veteran pilot, whether you are
a local club member or a solo flyer, the Scottish
Aeromodelling Association provides a service that enhances
the hobby.
Through its Safety Code and Achievement Scheme and its
network of local clubs, first class tuition is available
providing safe and controlled hands-on experience.
Students are encouraged to achieve an SAA Bronze safety
achievement certificate which deems a pilot competent in
taking off, flying controlled circuits and landing safely.
With practice and experience Silver and Gold awards can be
pursued. Silver is a pre-requisite for public airshows and
most competitors in the national championships are also at
this level.
The association runs a number of training and testing days
and weekends throughout the country to provide training
support for the local clubs, these being free and well
attended by novices. |
